PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus for improving voice quality wherein two or more wireless LAN terminals whose transmission timings are accidentally coincident respectively change the transmission timings autonomously so as to prevent occurrence of a transmission delay due to collision and to provide a communication method. SOLUTION: When the wireless LAN terminal transmits a voice frame, the wireless LAN terminal monitors a shared wireless transmission path as to whether or not a collision/transmission standby state occurs. When the predetermined number of collision/transmission standby states occur consecutively, the wireless LAN terminal discriminates that a transmission timing of another wireless LAN terminal is coincident with its own transmission timing, continues monitoring the wireless transmission path for a period determined by a random number, and if the collision/transmission standby state is not eliminated as a result, the wireless LAN terminal instructs a VoIP telephone application processing function to change a timing of an RTP packet generation timing by a displacement amount and the VoIP telephone application processing function changes the generating timing of an RTP packet by the instructed displacement amount.
