PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque oscillator which acquires vibration transmission characteristics by torque oscillation about an in-plane shaft. SOLUTION: The torque oscillator generates an excitation force at a fixed section 2 supporting a drive section 1 by driving the drive section 1 and generates torque in accordance with the excitation force. The torque oscillator comprises the drive section 1 which rotates symmetrically about a rotating shaft 3, the fixed section 2 which rotatably supports the drive section 1, a first generation section 4 and a second generation section 5 which are arranged at positions of the drive section 1 and the fixed section 2 which are symmetrical about the rotating shaft 3, and a power supply section 6 which provides the first and second generation sections 4, 5 with a current having a desired frequency. The drive section 1 is driven by allowing the first generation section 4 and the second generation section 5 to generate electromagnetic forces which are in opposite directions and have the same magnitude at the rotating shaft 3.
