PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake shoe retaining device which is improved so as to reduce braking noise by obtaining a vibration damping effect without adding a load to the brake shoe. SOLUTION: This brake shoe retaining device comprises a shoe retaining bolt 10 erected on a back plate 1 and inserted into a long hole 34 provided to a web 33 of the brake shoe 3, a nut 12 screwed on a projection part 11 of the shoe retaining bolt 10 projected from the web 33 through the long hole 34, and a vibration damping body 13 interposed between the nut 12 and the web 33. Because the vibration damping body 13 damps the vibration of the brake shoe 3, resonance is suppressed, and braking noise is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
