PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque control device of an internal combustion engine capable of imparting a different acceleration feeling to a driver in response to an acceleration request of the driver. SOLUTION: This torque control device of the internal combustion engine controls torque of the internal combustion engine so that the internal combustion engine is operated by target torque Ttrg. The torque control device of the internal combustion engine calculates request torque Tdem corresponding to an acceleration request from the driver, and sets restriction torque Tgrd corresponding to restriction of exhaust emission. The preset restriction torque Tgrd is corrected on the basis of a torque restriction factor (a) calculated in response to the size of the request torque Tdem, and its corrected torque is set as transitional restriction torque Tgrad. When the request torque Tdem becomes larger than the transitional restriction torque Tgrad, the transitional restriction torque Tgrad is set as the target torque Ttrg. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
