PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape which attains a high density recording and is high in linearity. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the magnetic tape by using the magnetic tape manufacturing apparatus provided with a suction roller supporting a running wide sheet on its outer peripheral surface, a slitter cutting the wide sheet into sheets each having a prescribed width and winding rollers winding the magnetic tape cut by the slitter, multiple suction holes provided in the suction roller are formed by alternately disposing one suction hole group provided on the same circumference of the cylindrical suction roller and the other suction hole group provided on the same circumference adjacently to the one suction hole group and opening regions of the other suction hole group exist on two lines of both ends in the circumferential direction of the opening regions of the one suction hole group extended to be parallel to a central axis of the cylindrical suction roller.
