PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finder optical system which can maintain sufficient finder magnification through fewer constituting components and enables display information to be brightly and satisfactorily observed while being superposed on an object image in the same visible field, and to provide an optical equipment to be mounted with the finder optical system. SOLUTION: The finder optical system 1 comprises: an observation optical system 10 for making the object image formed on a prescribed imaging surface (reticle 14) through an objective lens 11 an erect image by a pentaprism (erection optical system) 16 to enable the erect image to be observed through an eyepiece 18; and a display apparatus 2 provided outside the optical path of the observation optical system 10. The observation optical system 10 includes a display system optical member 17 (first optical member 17a) arranged closer to an eye point EP than the pentaprism (erection optical system) 16, and having three reflection surfaces A to C therein. The display information displayed by the display apparatus 2 is reflected by the three reflection surfaces A to C of the display system optical member 17 to be guided into the optical path of the observation optical system 10 (eyepiece 18), then, the display information is observed together with the object image in the same visible field.
