PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyte assay using particulate labels. SOLUTION: A group consisting of one or more scattered light-detectable particles is provided, in which the particle contain metal and has a size of 1-500 nm, each group is present on a surface, having a particle density of less than 0.1 particle/μm<SP>2</SP>, when the group is irradiated with white light, the color of scattered light scattered by at least 90% of the particles of each group can be detected by a human, eye with less than 500 times the magnification and without electronic amplification, and the particle contains at least one additive material on the surface.
