PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for cooling a hot-rolled steel strip by which cooling is performed uniformly from the nose of the steel strip to the tail end when cooling the hot-rolled steel strip with cooling water. SOLUTION: This cooling system includes a plurality of round tube nozzles 15 which are inclined and arranged so that the cooling system 10 jets bar-like cooling water at a jetting angleθtoward the upstream side in the traveling direction of the steel strip and a pinch roll 11 which puts the steel strip 12 between itself and a roller table 8.
