PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device improved in accuracy of objective valve timing control through control according to the construction of a valve timing mechanism. SOLUTION: The valve timing control device controls the valve timing mechanism for an engine in which a plurality of cam shafts 50, 51 provided with cams 55, 56 for driving intake valves of the engine 1 to open and close them are coaxially provided, and which can separately control rotating phases of the cam shafts 50, 51 by adjusting quantities of oil to be supplied to oil chambers formed in the cam shafts 50, 51 to control opening and closing timing of the intake valve at every cylinder. The valve timing control device comprises a hydraulic device 70 which controls a hydraulic valve for adjusting the oil quantities to be supplied to the oil chambers in the cam shafts, and corrects timing for controlling the hydraulic valve according to distances between the oil chambers and the hydraulic valve for adjusting the oil quantities to be supplied to the oil chambers.
