PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute handover processing at a higher speed in radio communication to use authentication by an electronic certificate. SOLUTION: The radio terminal stores common information shared at authentication processing with an authentication apparatus executed when connected to a first base station. In the case of switching a connection destination to a second base station which is different from the first base station, the radio terminal generates a new common key from the stored common information and notices the new common key to the authentication apparatus through the second base station. In the case that the new common key is determined to be correct by correctness determination processing by using the common information at the authentication apparatus, the radio terminal receives from the second base station an encryption key which is generated from the new common key noticed to the second base station from the authentication apparatus and applied to the radio communication between the radio terminal encrypted by the new common key and the second base station, decodes the encrypted encryption key by the other new common key, and conducts the radio communication by using the encryption key with the second base station.
