PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescence element having a low drive voltage, and having a low drive voltage and high light-emitting efficiency. SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescence element has an organic compound layer including a luminous layer between a pair of electrodes. The organic electroluminescence element contains a compound expressed by the general formula I in the organic compound layer. In the formula, Z<SB>1</SB>, Z<SB>2</SB>, Z<SB>3</SB>and Z<SB>4</SB>express an atom selected from carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen required for forming an unsaturated 6-membered ring skeleton each.
