PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variations in the power consumption of an auxiliary deflection device, and to reduce the power consumption. SOLUTION: This deflection device for a projection tube is equipped with a main deflection device for raster formation and an auxiliary deflection device for convergence correction. The auxiliary deflection device 31 is equipped with an auxiliary horizontal deflection coil 32, an auxiliary vertical deflection coil 33, and an auxiliary core 34. When the tube axis of the projection tube device equipped with the main deflection device is set as an axis Z, the auxiliary core 34 has an almost cylindrical shape having the axis Z as its center axis. When the shortest distances from the center axis of the auxiliary core 34 to the inner surface and the outer surface of the auxiliary core 34 are set as Rn, Rg, respectively, 0.76≤Rn/Rg≤0.815 is satisfied.
