摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining an optimum display state by reducing the influence of an electric field from an edge part of a pixel electrode or an adjacent pixel upon liquid crystal molecules. SOLUTION: A first substrate having pixel electrodes 26 and a second substrate 8 having a transparent electrode 11 are oppositely arranged and a liquid crystal 14 having negative dielectric anisotropy is held between both the substrates 1, 8. Slits 27 are formed in respective pixel electrodes 26, projections 28 corresponding to the slits 27 are formed on the second substrate 8, both the substrates 1, 8 are covered with vertical alignment layers 7, 12, and when an electric field is applied to a liquid crystal layer 14, liquid crystal molecules 14 are inclined to directions regulated by the projections 28 and the slits 27. A moderating means for moderating the influence of the electric field applied to the liquid crystal molecules 14 is formed on the edge part of each pixel electrode 26. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
