PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of accurately truing a grinding wheel, while preventing excessive truing, as well as efficient reshaping. SOLUTION: In this method of truing a grinding wheel, an output value outputted as a detecting signal of an acoustic emission sensor for emitting acoustic emission, which is generated when the grinding wheel is brought into contact with a truer, is monitored, and low-accuracy truing is performed in the low-accuracy truing condition until the output value of the acoustic emission sensor reaches a threshold value, and thereafter, high-accuracy truing is performed to the same surface as an object of truing in the high-accuracy truing condition.
