A method and an apparatus for folding a medium are provided to increase the folding efficiency by correcting alignment of media using a slope detection member. A method for folding a medium comprises the steps of transferring a medium to a folding cylinder between a first fastening section and a second fastening section by using a medium transfer member. The folding cylinder rotates in the first direction such that the medium is sent to a first folding fastening section formed by engaging the folding cylinder with a first rotary pressing member. A blouse is formed at the medium between the medium transfer member and the folding cylinder. The folding cylinder rotates in the second direction opposite to the first direction such that the blouse is transferred to the second fastening section.
