<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for locally coloring a part made of a metal oxide ceramic material. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes (A) a step of supporting the part made of the metal oxide ceramic material and a laser so that they can relatively move on an XY face, (B) a step of performing a plasma treatment of the part using a gas containing one element selected from nitrogen and carbon, wherein a surface layer of the metal oxide is converted to a ceramic being selected from a metal nitride and a metal carbide and having a stoichiometric composition, (C) a step of locally irradiating the part by a laser beam, wherein local change in color is caused by changing the stoichiometric composition of the surface layer and (D) a step of scanning the surface of the part by the laser beam to form a prescribed pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
