<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of always beautifully forming a transfer image on a transfer material even in the case of transferring a toner image to the leading end of the transfer material. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer body on which a toner image formed on an image carrier is primarily transferred; a secondary transfer means by which the toner image primarily transferred to the intermediate transfer body is secondarily transferred to a transfer material; and a secondary transfer power source that applies a secondary transfer bias to the secondary transfer means. The image forming apparatus has a second bias start timing control means that controls the timing of starting the application of the secondary transfer bias according to a distance between the leading end of the toner image to be transferred to the transfer material and the leading end of the transfer material to which the toner image is transferred. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
