<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus designed such that while the retention of the quality of a formed image is ensured, the number of times that a toner refresh process is executed is minimized. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus X, the print rate A of image data obtained as a result of a given image process for image forming processing performed one time is calculated (S10), and a toner discharging time t1 is determined (S20). Each time that the image-forming processing is performed (S30), an integral toner discharging time T is calculated (S40). If the integral toner discharging time T as a result of integrating the toner discharging time t1 reaches a predetermined threshold value (S50), the toner refresh process is executed (S50, S60).
