PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire the absolute position of a bus including the value of the high-order digits of latitude information and longitude information and to reduce a data amount to be transmitted further in a bus management device.

SOLUTION: The bus position management system is provided with a vehicle position detector mounted on the bus and the bus management device for receiving the position information of the bus from the vehicle position detector and managing the bus. The vehicle position detector obtains the area ID of the traveling area of the bus and a reference position from the absolute position of the bus, and obtains the relative position of the bus on the basis of the obtained reference position and the absolute position. The vehicle position detector 1 transmits the area ID and the relative position to the bus management device.
