PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a heat capacity while forming a nip width required for fixing, by giving a self-temperature control function to a fixing member and to secure the safety of a fixing device by surely preventing the excessive rise of a temperature in both end parts in a breadthwise direction without the reduction of temperature rise efficiency. SOLUTION: A fixing member 20 which faces a pressure member 30 to form the fixing nip and is heated by electromagnetic induction with a magnetic flux exciting means 24 comprises a fixing rotating member 21 having a magnetic material layer 21d having a Curie point of 100 to 300°C, a low-resistance tabular member 22 separately disposed in a position facing the magnetic flux exciting means with the fixing rotating member 21 between them, and a nip forming member 23 disposed in the fixing rotating member. The thickness in a lengthwise direction of the low-resistance tabular member is changed to surely prevent the excessive rise of the temperature in both end parts in the breadthwise direction without degrading a temperature rise characteristic for start.
