PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously casting a steel with which the continuous casting operation is stabilized and the quality of a cast slab can be improved by making suitable a design/operational condition of a general-used immersion nozzle. SOLUTION: When molten steel is continuously cast by supplying molten steel into a continuously casting mold through the immersion nozzle, the molten steel spouting quantity from the immersion nozzle is made to be≥4.0 (t/min) and also, the immersion nozzle is used, in which a ratio B/A of the total area B (mm<SP>2</SP>) of the spouting holes to the inner cross sectional area A (mm<SP>2</SP>) of the straight barrel part in the immersion nozzle is made to be 1.5-2.3 and a ratio Q/A (kg/min/mm<SP>2</SP>) of the molten steel supplying quantity Q (kg/min) to the inner cross-sectional area A (mm<SP>2</SP>) of the straight barrel part in the immersion nozzle, is made to be≥1.0.
