A bodywork unit, especially a front hood (10) has an outer veneering part (12) which is joined to a stiffening inner part (14) for bracing the body- work part via a connecting flange (30) in which the inner part (14) has a number of sump-like recesses (22) which are joined in their edge zones (26) via the associated connection flange (30) to the outer veneering part (12) to box-shaped stiffening structures. The edge zones (26) of the sump-like recesses (22) are provided with free-running cuts (32,34) for partially opening the box-shaped stiffening structures.
