Disparate data sources that are, for example, physically separated, and of different types, often comprise redundant and inconsistent data across those data sources. This is problematic when it is required to use and or manage the data across the data sources in an effective and simple manner. In addition, it can be difficult to find out what data is available and to do this quickly and effectively. To address these problems a method of modelling information cross-datasource is described which uses a vertex-edge graph structure. Master vertices in the graph uniquely represent entities in the information system and this reduces redundancy. Declined vertices are linked to master vertices and are related to different ones of the disparate data sources. Fields are represented (uniquely to reduce redundancy) at the vertices and corresponding fields are linked to reduce and/or avoid data inconsistencies.
|
