An actuator (5) having a fixed part (4), a movable part (2) movable with respect to the fixed part (4) in a travelling direction (3), and a non-contact position sensor (15) connected to the movable part (2) to read the position of the movable part (2). The position sensor (15) has a reading device (17) connected to the fixed part (4) and having a ferromagnetic core (18); and a magnetic cursor (16), which is integrated in the movable part (2), is defined by a magnetized portion of the movable part (2), and is so magnetized as to locally saturate the ferromagnetic core (18) at the magnetic cursor (16).
