An apparatus and a method for controlling an operation of a satellite digital multimedia broadcasting terminal according to temperature are provided to control an operation of a smart card about CAS(Condition Access System) included in the satellite digital multimedia broadcasting terminal without being operated below an operation temperature range, thereby protecting a disable state of CAS-related smart card. An apparatus for controlling an operation of a satellite digital multimedia broadcasting terminal according to temperature comprises the followings: a smart card(130) about a condition access system with a pre-selected operation temperature range; a temperature detecting unit(120) for detecting the temperature of a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) terminal; and a control unit(110) for stopping an operation of a smart card related to CAS(Condition Access System) when the detected temperature is less than threshold temperature.
