A method for manufacturing a cathode for a field emission lamp using a CN(Carbon Nano)-based material is provided to prevent an edge effect and to improve light emitting uniformity of the field emission lamp by growing directly the CN-based material on an outer circumference of an Ni metal wire. A method for manufacturing a cathode for a field emission lamp includes a process for forming sequentially a transparent electrode and phosphor on an inner circumference of a glass tube and a process for disposing a cathode in the inside of the glass tube. In the method, an extrusion process is performed to extrude a metal wire(50) from a metal material including Ni(ST10). A growing process is performed to grow directly a CN-based material on an outer circumference of the metal wire(ST30). The metal wire includes Ni corresponding to 99 percent of total content thereof. The CN-based material is formed of one selected from CN-based materials including CNT, CNW, CNF, CNB, CNH, and DLC.
