An electro-wetting display is provided to realize darkness and color in a single pixel at the same time by adding a black coloring matter to oil and mixing the coloring matter of red, green, and blue colors with an electrolyte. A transmission-type electro-wetting display device includes an upper substrate(1-a), an ITO(Indium-Tin Oxide) electrode(2-a) in the lower part of the upper substrate, a compound(4-b) where an electrolyte and coloring matter are mixed in the lower part of the ITO electrode, a lower substrate(1-b) which is positioned in the lowest part, an ITO electrode(2-b) in the upper part of the lower substrate, a hydrophobic insulating thin film(6) coated on the ITO electrode of the lower part, a compound(5) where oil and coloring matter are mixed on the hydrophobic insulating thin film, a high molecule wall(3) which maintains a distance between the upper substrate and the lower substrate and makes the coloring matters not mixed, a light source which emits light by using power like a backlight under the lower substrate, and AC(Alternating Current) or DC(Direct Current) power to be switched.
