A method for regulating tilt of an optical disk device is provided to progress a following reproducing or recording action instantly by skipping tilt regulation action for an un-curved disk and to improve recording quality by detecting optimized tilt regulation value for the curved disk. A method for regulating tilt of an optical disk device comprises the steps searching a focus at a periphery of the optical disk(S11), detecting and storing focus driving voltage when focus driving signal is generate while searching the focus(S12), searching the focus in an endostyle of the optical disk(S13), detecting and storing focus driving voltage when focus driving signal is generate while searching the focus(S14), and determining whether tilt regulation is progressed or not at the periphery of the optical disk on the basis of detected two focus driving voltages (S22). The tilt regulation is progressed at the periphery of the optical disk if difference between two detected focus driving voltages is over than standard value. The tilt regulation is skipped if the difference between two detected focus driving voltages is less than standard value.
