<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive in which the protection of a circuit element at a failure and the significant reduction of a precharge time significantly shortens a startup time of a system. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive comprises a motor 20, a motor drive circuit 37 which starts up the motor 20, a relay circuit 32 provided between a power supply 38 and the motor drive circuit 37, a power supply stabilizing capacitor 31 connected across both ends of the motor drive circuit 37, and a precharge circuit 33 that charges the power supply stabilizing capacitor 31 before closing the relay circuit 32. A first resistor and a second resistor whose resistance value is lower than the first resistor are provided between the power supply 38 and the power supply stabilizing capacitor 31.
