A lane keeping assist/support system(LKAS) considering a driver's steering tendency and a method for controlling the same are provided to improve a driver's steering sensitivity by controlling the steering force of LKAS in accordance with the steering mode selected by the driver. A lane keeping assist/support system(LKAS) includes: a mode selection part(30) to enable a driver to select a mode of his/her steering tendency among 3 modes; a lane information extraction part(40) which extracts a departure angle and a departure distance of a vehicle against running lane when the vehicle is running along the lane; a vehicle action computation part(50) to calculate the pose of vehicle based on transverse dynamics of the vehicle; a control part(70) to calculate steering torque required for keeping lane from result values of the mode selection part(30), the lane information extraction part(40), and the vehicle action computation part(50), so as to drive a steering motor(82); and the steering motor(82) to support for keeping lane by steering force generated form the control part(70).
