APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ACQUIRING UP-LINK SYNCHRONIZED SIGNAL IN A OFDMA SYSTEM

<p>A method and an apparatus for acquiring an up-link synchronization signal in an OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system are provided to reduce an up-link synchronization signal acquiring time by increasing a ranging code detection probability. An S/P(Series/Parallel) converter(10) converts series data from a base station into parallel data. An FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) unit(20) demodulates the parallel data. A ranging channel selector(30) selects a ranging channel signal from an output signal of the FFT unit. A normalizer(40) normalizes the selected ranging channel signals from the ranging channel selector. A correlation value calculator(50) calculates a correlation value of the normalized signal. A threshold value detector(60) detects a ranging code for identifying the base station by detecting a threshold value of the calculated correlation value.</p>
