A reproducing apparatus, a method for selecting content and a program is provided to perform a group jump regardless of searched content by setting a sort list wherein content management information is aligned by group, and selecting the group adjoining to the content data on the basis of the set sort list. A reproducing apparatus(1) comprises an operational unit, a memory unit, a reproducing unit(2), and a control unit. The memory unit memorizes identification information for identifying content data, content management information having attribute information of the content data, and a sort list with content management information arranged by group on the basis of the attribute information. The reproducing unit reproduces the content data. The control unit sets the sort list when a predetermined operation is inputted to the operational unit, and selects a group adjoining to the content date being produced on the basis of the set sort list when a predetermined operation is inputted to the operational unit.
