A chattering vibration inhibiting mechanism of a machine tool is provided to absorb chattering vibration even when the chattering vibration generated during work processing is transmitted to a weight from a support member through an elastic member. A chattering vibration inhibiting mechanism(20) includes a box type package body(21) attached to a spindle head(6); a support member(22) arranged in the box type package body; and a damper(23) constituted by an elastic member(27) and a weight(26) supported by the support member.
