A lamp unit is provided to constrain a reduction of Hg and extend a life span of the fluorescent discharge tube by constraining a radiation heat in an end unit of a fluorescent discharge tube. A lamp unit includes a light guide plate(10), a fluorescent discharge tube(1), a lead line(2), and a holder(4). The fluorescent discharge tube(1) is installed on a side plane of the light guide plate(10). An electrode part is installed on an end unit of the fluorescent discharge tube. The lead line(2) has a contact point coupled to the electrode part of the fluorescent discharge tube(1). The holder(4) has a hollow. The end of the fluorescent discharge tube(1) and the contact point of the lead line(2) are formed on the hollow. A diameter of the hollow of the holder(4) is larger than a diameter of the fluorescent discharge tube. The holder supports the fluorescent discharge tube on a predetermined arrange position in the side plane of the light guide plate(10). |
