A plasma display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce the number of switches necessary for forming sustain pulses and to reduce stresses applied to the switches when a plasma display panel is driven by a half sustain method using a single power source. A plasma display device includes a first switch(Ysus_up), a capacitor(C1), a second switch(Ysus_gnd), and a third switch(Ysus_dn). The first switch applies external power of positive polarity to a panel. The capacitor is charged with current according to the connection of the first switch. The second switch and the third switch are operated complementarily with the first switch in order to discharge the current from the panel and the capacitor. |
