A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiver having an MP3(MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) layer 3) broadcasting data processing function and a processing method therefor are provided to receive and output the broadcasting of an MP3 type included in additional data broadcasting by using a DMB receiver. A DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting)/DMB RF(Radio Frequency) tuner(100) tunes and filters a specific channel from a certain DMB signal inputted through an antenna in response to a control signal inputted from the outside. A DAB/DMB audio decoder(110) performs the channel decoding of the DMB signal inputted from the DAB/DMB RF tuner(100) in response to the control signal inputted from the outside, and decodes audio data and additional data. An MOT(Multimedia Object Transfer) decoder(130) receives the additional data inputted from the DAB/DMB audio decoder(110), and decodes and outputs MP3 audio data and MP3 audio association additional data in response to the control signal inputted from the outside. A DMB dedicated A/V processing unit(120) encodes and outputs the decoding data inputted from the DAB/DMB audio decoder(110) as MPEG-4 data in response to the control signal inputted from the outside. The DMB dedicated A/V processing unit(120) discriminates whether inputted moving picture data are MPEG-4 data or H.264 AVC baseline data, demodulates the moving picture data, and outputs the demodulated moving picture data on an TFT(Thin Film Transistor) LCD(Liquid Crystal Display)(170). The DMB dedicated A/V processing unit(120) encodes the decoded digital audio data, and outputs the encoded digital audio data through a speaker. The DMB dedicated A/V processing unit(120) provides an EPG picture of the MP3 audio data to be reproduced through an MP3 player(140) by using the MP3 audio association additional data outputted from the MOT decoder(130). A memory unit(150) stores the MP3 audio data decoded by the MOT decoder(130). The MP3 player(140) stores the MP3 audio data outputted through the MOT decoder in the memory unit(150), and reads and plays the MP3 audio data stored in the memory unit(150). An audio selector(180) outputs one of the first digital audio output outputted from the DAB/DMB audio decoder and the second digital audio output and the MP3 audio output outputted from the DMB dedicated A/V processing unit(120) according to the operation of a user. An audio DAC(Digital to Analog Converter)(190) converts the digital audio output outputted from the audio selector into an analog audio signal, and outputs the converted analog audio signal. A main control unit(160) controls the entire system.
