A lithium secondary battery having a predetermined space between both ends of an insulation casing and a shorter sidewall of a can is provided to extend a space into which an electrolyte is injected, to improve a swelling degree with an electrolyte, and to prevent a short circuit. A lithium secondary battery(200) comprises: an electrode assembly(220) having a cathode plate(223) and an anode plate(225) faced to each other and a separator interposed between both electrode plates; a can(210) for housing the electrode assembly; a cap assembly(230) for sealing the top opening of the can; and an insulation casing(270) disposed between the cap assembly and the electrode assembly, wherein the insulation casing has a flat panel-like shape and a predetermined space between both ends of the casing and a shorter sidewall(213) of the can. |
