A water-soluble primer for lens coating is provided to be environment-friendly, ensure alcohol resistance, especially high methanol resistance, thereby exhibiting sufficient resistance against a hard coating agent. The water-soluble primer for lens coating includes a water-dispersed polyurethane dispersion prepared from NCO-terminated polyurethane pre-polymers. The polyurethane prepolymers are prepared by reacting polyols with aliphatic polyisocyanates and hydrophilic diols. The polyols contain, as a main component, polyol selected from the group consisting of polycarbonate diols, polycaprolactone polyols, and a mixture thereof. The polyurethane prepolymer has an NCO content of 1-8%.
