A method and a system for automatically controlling power are provided to perform a reservation recording function by automatically turning on the power when the power of the system is abnormally turned off. An I/O controller(24) receives and outputs a power on/off command by a power input command of a user, or senses main power and judges whether the power is abnormally turned off. A power unit(23) supplies operating power to respective parts of a system, and supplies standby power to a user interface unit(22). The I/O controller controls the power unit, and automatically turns on the power of the system when the power is abnormally turned off.
