A plasma display panel and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to enhance a brightness of the display panel without increasing the power consumption by increasing the size of a discharge cell. A plasma display panel includes first and second substrates(211,221), a barrier rib(224), first and second sustain electrodes(212,213), and a fluorescent layer(225). The first and second substrates face each other. The barrier rib defines discharge cells with the first and second substrates. The width of the barrier rib close to the second substrate is greater than that of the barrier rib close to the first substrate. The strength of the barrier rib close to the second substrate is greater than that of the barrier rib close to the first substrate. The first and second sustain electrodes are arranged to correspond to the respective discharge cells. The fluorescent layer is arranged inside the discharge cells.
