A method for controlling a recording operation of a complex product, and a system thereof are provided to record a specific broadcasting program of a specific time range automatically without a reservation recording setting when an audience does not watch the broadcasting program. A method for controlling a recording operation of a complex product includes a step of switching a manual recording mode into an automatic recording mode when providing an automatic mode selection signal from an input unit(S207,S209,S211), a step of setting a time range and a channel of an applicable broadcasting program when an audience watches the broadcasting program over optional frequency, by detecting a watching pattern of the audience at the specific time range periodically in real time(S213), and a step of recording the specific broadcasting program applied to the set time range and the set channel, automatically when the audience does not watch the set broadcasting program(S219,S221). A system for controlling the recording operation of the complex product includes a recording unit. The recording unit records the specific broadcasting program applied to the set time range and the channel, automatically, as the audience does not watch the set broadcasting program.
