A home gateway using a PC and a home network system using the same are provided to control/monitor home appliances connected to a home network in a home by being provided in the type of an option board mounted in the PC and perform a function of the home gateway by using power applied to the PC during home networking work. An external interface(230) is connected to an external network and an internal interface(240) is connected to a home network. A controller(210) relays a data list of the home appliances(132a,132b) linked with the home network by using the power supplied during a power saving mode if the PC(120) is operated in the power saving mode depending on an operation state of the PC. If the PC is operated in a normal mode, the controller transfers relay rights to the PC so that it can relay data of the home appliances by using resources of the PC. A database(220) stores information on home appliances and data stored in the home appliances. |
