An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display is provided to make a fluent V-T curve by variously forming gaps between common electrodes and pixel electrodes within a pixel area, thereby providing robust characteristics to the process variation and accordingly improving a process margin and reducing an error rate. An in-plane switching mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) includes first and second substrates, gate lines(212) and data lines(215) which cross each other vertically and horizontally on the first substrate and define a pixel area(P), a thin film transistor which is formed in an intersection of the gate lines and the data lines, plural common electrodes(224) and pixel electrodes(217) which are formed alternatively on the pixel area and have different spacing distance and a liquid crystal layer formed between the first and second substrates. |
