INFRARED LED TRACKING SYSTEM FOR GAME INTERFACE AND TRACKING METHOD THEREOF

A system and a method for tracking an infrared LED for a game interface are provided to guarantee enough degree of freedom as realizing precise location designation, and operate an arcade gun on an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display)/TFT(Thin Film Transistor) display or a large screen. A game processor is operated by an execution program. A display part(30) outputs a game image through a screen as communicating with the game processor. A lighting unit(20) is installed at the display part and has the infrared LED for irradiating infrared. An arcade gun(10) turns on the infrared LED by electrically connecting to the display part if a user pulls a trigger. A camera(11) is installed at the arcade gun to capture the lighting unit according to a position of the arcade gun if the trigger is pulled. An infrared filter enables the camera to capture only the infrared by filtering other lights excluding the infrared. A signal processor(40) computes/processes a point aimed by the arcade gun facing the screen by checking position of the infrared LED in an image captured by the camera, and transmits position information of the processed aimed position to the game processor.
