A reception focusing apparatus adopting a sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter in an ultrasound system is provided to prevent a degradation of performance of the reception focusing apparatus by maintaining a constant time constant of an integrator in the ADC(Analog Digital Converter). A reception focusing apparatus includes a variable sampling clock generator(320), a sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter(310), a delay unit(330), and an adder(340). The variable sampling clock generator generates a variable sampling clock based on delay times of ultrasound echo signals, which are received in respective converters. The variable sampling clock generator outputs a control signal corresponding to a period corresponding to the generated clock. The sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter converts an analog signal from the respective converters to a digital signal in response to the sampling clock and a control signal. The delay unit delays an output signal from the sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter. The adder accumulates the delayed output signals from the sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter.
