#CMT# #/CMT# The implant (1) has a body (2) with a porous structure, and inserts (3) made of a metallic material e.g. stainless steel, resistive to a friction occurred against articular bone surfaces. The inserts are fixed to the body such that the inserts are arranged opposite to the bone surfaces when the implant is inserted in a space liberated by ablation of a trapezium bone. The inserts cooperate with a metacarpal (101) and a scaphoid, and have a convex articular surface (6) and a concave articular surface, respectively. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating an implant. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for totally or partially replacing a trapezium bone for allowing an articulated movement of a metacarpal with respect to scaphoid (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The inserts made of stainless steel are arranged opposite to the bone surfaces when the implant is inserted in the space liberated by ablation of the trapezium bone, so that the inserts resist against frictions and pressures as the surfaces exercise on the inserts, thus avoiding wear of the implant and eliminating the spreading of particles toward tissues surrounding the implant, and hence preventing the generation of full-blown infection of the tissues so as to avoid articular pains. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows an enlarged view of a replacement implant. 1 : Replacement implant 2 : Body 3 : Inserts 6 : Convex articular surface 101 : Metacarpal 102 : Scaphoid #CMT#METALLURGY : #/CMT# The inserts are made of a metallic material e.g. stainless steel.
|
