An apparatus for detecting the signal pattern of a noise is provided to determine an instant friction state of a sliding pair consisting of a piston or piston ring and a cylinder insertion unit and to set an optimum amount of lubricant based on the instant friction state. An apparatus(1) for detecting a signal pattern of a noise in a device includes a sensor(8) and a filter device. The sensor is acoustically connected to the device to detect the noise. The filter device generates the signal pattern by filtering a predetermined range among the frequency spectrum of the noise. The filter device is composed of a band pass filter for filtering the predetermined range. The band pass filter is a sensor formed as an electronic band pass filter and/or a software band pass filter and/or a mechanical band pass filter.
