PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an error rate from degraded by avoiding vertical magnetic recording due to the increase of the low frequency signal component of write data caused by mechanical deformation of wiring of a head IC. SOLUTION: Heads 22-1 to 22-4 are provided with write head elements 46-1 to 46-4 for recording data to a disk medium complying with vertical magnetic recording; and read head elements 48-1 to 48-4 for reproducing the data. A monitoring band detection part 58 sets a frequency band between a signal band of a write data signal and an error rate degradation band which is lower than this and in which the error rate is degraded as a monitoring band, and detects a signal in the monitoring band in the write data signal to be inputted to a write amplifier 50. A determination part 60 determines that a detection signal of the monitoring band by the monitoring band detection part 58 becomes a prescribed threshold or higher, and stops the recording operation of the write amplifier 50.
