PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a transfer device, which has an ion conductive material wound around a conductive shaft core of a transfer roller and supplies a transfer bias current to a transfer nip, from having transfer unevenness or damage to an image carrier. SOLUTION: The transfer device includes the transfer roller 2 which transfers a toner image formed on a photoreceptor 1 to a recording body, the transfer roller having the ion conductive material wound around the conductive shaft core; and a transfer current imparting means (electric supply roller) 3 which is brought into contact with the surface of the transfer roller 2 to supply the transfer bias current to the transfer nip through the transfer roller shaft core during transfer. Toner to be transferred is at least magnetic toner having magnetic particles included in toner particles made of binder resin. The magnetic particles are of 0.01 to 0.50μm in mean particle size, and a particle shape is based upon an octahedron as a convex polyhedron having eight triangles; and the respective vertexes and ridges of the octahedron form curved surfaces, and an outer peripheral part of its projection image has a part which can be assumed to be linear.
