PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device for a tape member capable of positioning a carrier tape relative to a metal die device at high accuracy. SOLUTION: The conveying device for the tape member is provided with a feeding reel 2 wound with the carrier tape 1; a takeup reel 17 for taking up the carrier tape paid out from the feeding reel; a metal die device 21 provided between the feeding reel and the takeup reel and punching a semiconductor chip mounted on the carrier tape; and a tension setting means having dancer rollers 9, 15 provided between the feeding reel and the takeup reel and setting tension given to the tape member according to the kind of the carrier tape.
